Care & repair: care tips for maintaining your shoes
Whether you’re doing the shopping, taking a relaxing walk or visiting a museum, our shoes will support you every step of the way. Because the shoes are both stylish and comfortable, they’ll always be the first ones you reach for as you’re heading out the door. Perhaps they’re even the ones you choose to wear every day!
Stretchwalker increases your sense of balance, and you’ll be able to enjoy this for even longer if you take good care of your shoes. Fortunately, this doesn’t have to be a complicated, time-consuming task. We’ve put together a few simple care tips so you can get more out of your shoes.
1.Did you know that you should let wet shoes dry out thoroughly before putting them in your shoe cabinet? You shouldn’t put them in a plastic bag or place them on or next to a heat source, such as a radiator. Instead, put your shoes in a well-ventilated area so that they can dry completely. Wet shoes can become mouldy, and they’re more likely to smell bad if you put them away while they’re still wet. Your shoes need to be able to breathe, which is why you can already protect them by choosing the right storage method.
2.Want to ensure that your shoes retain their quality? If so, we’ve got a very simple but effective tip just for you! Clean your shoes before you put them away. No matter how tempting it might seem to put them away quickly because you’re just going to be wearing them the next day anyway, take a moment to clean off any dirt. This prevents it from drying on your shoes and causing marks. We recommend the Collonil brand for optimal shoe care. Collonil has been helping to keep leather and suede items clean and beautiful since 1909. Our own shoe spray also provides protection from dirt and water. To be sure of long-lasting walking enjoyment, simply ask for our protective spray at any of our retail outlets.
3.Shoes can lose their shape if you stack them on top of each other. It’s great to be able to switch between several pairs of shoes, but make sure you store them next to each other so that they retain their proper form. For example, you can store your shoes in the boxes they came in so that they stay as good as new. This also prevents their colour fading and protects them from dust, water and sunlight. Luckily, taking care of your shoes doesn’t have to be a complicated affair.
4.Wooden shoe trees will help you to keep your shoes in good condition and great shape. Wood has a moisture-extracting and neutralising effect that helps keep your shoes fresh.
